Just as we predicted, spring and summer weddings have kept us so busy that updating this blog has fallen by the wayside. Gorgeous photo sets are coming in from all of our 2016 events, so you are going to have lots of amazing images to inspire you once they get published!
Meanwhile, we had to pop in here with a big announcement: our new farm table collection has arrived! Until now we had only mismatched tables for rent, and none were custom built for events. These new farm tables are matching so that you can create the perfect dining arrangements for your event, from long king’s tables to more traditional layouts. They fold for easy transport and storage, bringing the cost down and making for easier setup. In addition to our 8′ long dining tables, we also have smaller farm tables and tall bar-height tables. We hope you love these as much as we do!
We can’t say enough about how much fun Jessica and Wyatt’s wedding was! With elegant, classic details throughout, it would have been enough simply to stare at the gorgeous scenery at their Holy Name Cathedral ceremony and Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile reception. The bride and her entire bridal party were beautiful in their full length gowns and delicate florals. The groom and his groomsmen looked fab in summery gray suits with striped ties and elegant boutonnieres. Husband-wife team Christy and James of Christy Tyler Photography captured everything with a talented eye. There’s so much happiness in these images!
At the reception, guests enjoyed a refreshing cocktail hour to beat the heat and made their way to a fantastic meal in the hotel’s ballroom. Once dinner ended, a serious rager broke loose. Toast and Jam’s DJ Kate kept the dance floor packed all night, not that she needed much help prompting this crowd to get moving! With a little help from their families, Jessica and Wyatt kept guests decked in enough glowing party gear to give the lights on the Vegas Strip a run for their money. Chicago-style late night bites and thoughtful favors were a perfect way to end the night.
We loved being part of this fantastic couple’s day and are excited to see what the future holds for them. Congratulations, you two!

One thing many of you already know about us is that we love supporting our favorite causes, and one of those favorites happens to be One Tail at a Time Dog Rescue. Our owner was a supporter even before founding Chicago Vintage Weddings, so of course it’s pleasure to have the opportunity to use CVW to do good for the pups!
Last night we were the proud sponsor of the first fundraiser dinner for One Tail at a Time. Our friends at green caterer Big Delicious Planet generously donated a five course meal prepared by Executive Chef Melissa. The dinner took place at Chicago Pet Sitters, so we knew we had our work cut out for us in transforming this daytime pet sitting headquarters into a cozy, intimate dinner venue. We decided on a simple, rustic woodland theme to match the space’s existing farm table and industrial seating. Scavenged wood, recycled paper and vintage rentals decorated the table, fitting the eco-chic vibe.
As if helping a dog rescue isn’t good enough, we were joined during set up by the world’s cutest guests of honor: two pit bull puppies who just entered the rescue that day! We don’t even want to tell you how much productivity time we lost to snuggles, but it was well worth every minute. These babies will be needing homes soon. There are also plenty of other adoptable OTAT dogs of all ages waiting to light up your life, all listed here on Petfinder!
Happy 2015, loves! Winter has finally arrived in full force here in Chicago. If you’re anything like us, you could use some warm winter wedding inspiration to cheer you up on a cold day. Love and Lavender recently featured our styled shoot and we’re thrilled to be able to share it with you! Here’s a sneak peek of some of the loveliness.

Some couples are clearly meant for each other. Julia and Mike are one of those couples, and it shows in the heartfelt pictures taken by Christopher Foltz on their wedding day. We coordinated and provided rentals for this charming August affair at St. Hedwig and Kitchen Chicago, one of our favorite loft spots in the city! Every little detail–from the matching bridesmaid gowns to the adorable guest cards–was just perfect. It was such a pleasure working with this darling couple. Congratulations, you two!

Everybody loves a love story. One of the most adorable stories we’ve come across lately is that of Karis and Israel, the husband-wife team behind Amor in Motion videography. These two collaborate on a boutique service that captures the beautiful stories of other couples with a creative, personal touch. We caught up with Karis to chat about what makes Amor in Motion special, and to find out more about choosing a videographer for your big day!
More about the team: “We differ from others in that we are, actually, a team–it’s just Isra and a couple of incredibly gifted friends and artists, which means that we film and edit everything ourselves. We don’t subcontract other videographers or outsource the editing, which limits the number of weddings we are able to take on every year but it also ensures quality. We are getting incredibly busy but are also making lifelong friends. It’s so fun!”
On touching experiences with clients: “The best part to capture is the raw emotion and all of the beautiful details. Just yesterday we released a new film for a wedding we had in April and the couple called us crying saying it was the most incredible thing they’ve ever watched. We want every couple to be able to look back on this film and be reminded of their love and devotion to each other.
Why it’s important to be selective: “Seven years ago we hired a college student to film our wedding and it was atrocious. I have no real film to look back on. It’s just the ceremony portion, shot far away from high above. We have a four year old daughter who talks about marriage and I wish I had a real film to show her.”

If you’ve been following our blog, you’ve probably seen us talking about Committed, the annual indie wedding show hosted by the Chicago Green Wedding Alliance. This was our second year participating and it couldn’t have been better! We met so many new couples and got to strut our stuff with our rentals and planning display in the main event space at Greenhouse Loft. A big hit was our DIY activity, which let couples craft their own “thank you” banners.
As usual, we met plenty of clients (or their families) who are planning destination weddings from out of state. Chicago Vintage Weddings loves working with couples planning destination weddings in Chicago! It’s especially fun for us because our owner has lived in the area all her life and knows exactly how to showcase this beautiful city for visitors; nothing is too far off the beaten path to escape our attention. Whether someone has roots in the city or fell in love with it during a vacation, we know what makes Chicago so special and love to help others feel right at home while planning a wedding here.
If we met you at Committed, thanks for looking at our blog! If you didn’t get a chance to meet us there, don’t fret: you can call, email us or fill out our contact form to find out more! Be sure to take a peek at Tuan H. Bui, Photographer as well, who provided us with the lovely photos.
Have you heard? Two weeks from now, on Sunday, February 23, the biggest wedding show ever to hit Logan Square will be coming to Greenhouse Loft. Committed is hosted by the Chicago Green Wedding Alliance so rest assured that some of Chicago’s greenest, grooviest wedding vendors will be there. Come with an empty stomach and an open mind because you’re sure to get amazing samples from Goose Island , Katherine Anne Confections, FIG Catering and more, plus tons of inspiration from other event professionals like yours truly.
Committed is also going to feature a rumpus room with DIY projects like our banner-making kit. You can also visit us in our booth for a little “meet the planner” Q&A and a peek at our vintage rentals. We can’t wait to see you there!
